Conditions:
The trail was unbroken with 3-4' of snow, with multiple layers of wet snow/crust. The trail is in rough shape, with number blow downs and tons of branches hanging over the trail, as well as a decent washout about a half mile in (3-4 feet deep). I think we made it to Ledge Brook (maybe 1.5 miles in) which was really washed out (8-10 feet deep), so we decided to turn around. Slowing going even coming back. This trail needs an adopter!
Equipment:
We were on XC skis. I don't think snowshoes would have been much, if any, easier. Loppers or a hatchet?
Comments:
Even with our tracks, the trail wouldn't be too much fun to follow with all the branches if your face. Take a look if you want a challenge.
