Lonesome Lake trail to Hut was firm. Traction helpful but not essential. Don't step off the center rail though, pretty soft and deep- about 4 feet. From hut took Cascade Brook trail /AT. Upper part beautiful,following the rushing brook was awesome. Trail firm in center but soft and deep o/w. Snowshoes worked well. Took the shortcut of Basin Cascade trail and the river crossing was knee deep. Recommend taking Cascade Brook all the way and pick up bike path back to parking lot unless you don't mind wet feet.
