Lonesome Lake Trail is pack downed with the top few inches of trail softening. Trail becomes slippery after passing Lonesome Lake. The last mile there is a section of very thick ice covering the trail. Couple behind me turned around. I was wearing snowshoes and I avoided the ice, going through a wooded area off the trail. Didn't feel like stopping and putting on crampons.
Some kind of traction is needed for the hike. Crampons were a necessity to walk on the icy section.
Beautiful sunny day. Great views from the top.
I ran into 3 women who'd hiked to a vista, and weren't going further. Nice talk with them. When I hiked back, almost to the parking lot, I saw them again. I was hiking alone and they clapped when they saw me. They asked if I was the woman who'd written in the hut log that she was hiking after having 3 major surgeries! It was not me but it was very nice to be applauded at the end of a hike!
