Started from Mt Ivy PIP Exit 13 and returned. Nice 360 degree views of Manhattan skyline, Ramapos, Palisades Escarpment, Hudson Highlands, Indian Point and down to Haverstraw
Special Equipment Needed: Good thing I put mink oil on my Merrells last night because yesterday's rain left really wet leaves. New treads and stiff soles important.
Comments: Summit of High Tor was a lookout location during Revolutionary War and early in the 20th century had a airplane beacon light. The metal foundation is still there. On this section and previous section of the Long Path, the trail frequently follows gravel road truck trails below the ridgeline. Best to scamper up to ridge for better views and more variety of footing and flora.
