Harriman Section Hike. Hiked Long Path from Lake Skannatati thru Times Square, AT Junction to Arden Valley Road and back by AT, 'shwack down to Seven Lakes Drive past Lake Tiorati and Lake Askoti. Flurries at start at 8:00 am, to sleet at 9:00 to rain at 10:00.
Special equipment required: Bareboot was fine because there was no previous ice before the 1/2 inch of sleet on the ground. Traction was good, but good treads and mink oil necessary. After tonight stabilicers might be required on the Long Path in Orange County. Several layers of polyester and poncho was crucial.
At this latitude, date and elevation I am pushing fall hiking without traction assistance. Time to either buy spikes or break out the skis and head further north.
