Anyone know if the section between Stratton and Bourne ponds is still closed? Or how bad it is or why it was closed?

The Green Mountain Club's website (click here) still says the trail is closed. It may be worth calling them to double check in case the website hasn't been updated yet.

When I was hiking in that area last fall, I didn't try and hike over Borne Pond, so I didn't see the area. But I've talked to two hikers who have (one who was there within the last month or two, the other on my trail last fall) who attempted to hike down the trail. Both said it was completely impassable.

It is closed. We were up on Stratton Mountain yesterday and spoke to the caretaker. We were told that because it is a wilderness area power tools cannot be used to clear the debris. There is a brief period each year when the forest service can use power tools in these areas but that will not happen until the fall.The tornado really raised havoc there and rendered the trail impassable.
