Trails: Great Gulf, Madison Gulf, Osgood, Howker Ridge, Pine Link.
Trails were in good shape, with only a few obstacle blowdowns on Madison Gulf trail...some running water up higher on Madison Gulf...water crossings easy due to low water levels on all of them...at the wooden ladder on the Madison Gulf trail, we came upon a young bull moose, as we crested a rise, about 20 feet away...he could not go up or go right, so he either had to run us over, or go down the steep, blowdown strewn embankment on the left side of the trail...luckily he went that way, crashing through blowdowns and slipping and sliding over small boulders in the brook down below...too quick for pictures..our closest moose encounter on our final redline hike!! Views were ok under milky cloud skies but blue skies came later in the day....
