Madison to Pierce (over summits) via Appalachia, Valley Way & AT

Date of Hike: Saturday, March 15

Trail Conditions: Packed out with 3-4 inches of new snow. Mostly ice and snow drifts on the summits. White-out conditions with clouds.

Special Equipment Required: Crampons - essential, ice axe - essential, GPS recommended to avoid false trails in white-out sections, sunblock!

Comments: Very little wind, surprisingly warm when hiking spending most of the time without jackets (wear layers). Great hike - check the web for pictures
