Trail Conditions: Lower section of Osgood was fine. No issues. Average white mountain hiking conditions. Upper section along the ridge was dry. Took 4 hours to reach the summit with a few short trailmix breaks. Mad gulf down was insane. I do not recommend this to anyone but experienced hikers. You basically follow a waterfall/river most of the way with wet mossy rocks. You are hiking in the river in many areas although my feet stayed dry. We only met one person coming up and she was wearing sneakers. Lower section of the Mad gulf was dry and no issues. Multiple stream crossings made things interesting, but never dangerous.
Special Equipment Required: Trekking poles, bug spray. No big issues with black flies or mosquitos.
Comments: Although we had zero views coming up and along the ridge due to lots of cloud cover we were greated with a fantastic view of the top of Madison just below its summit at about 5k ft. We could not see more than 100 yds in front of us (if that) when all of the sudden the clouds broke for a moment and - WOW- there was the peek right in front of us....Very kewl.
With this hike I completed all the presidentials. 22 4k footers left on my list to hike.
