VT Air National Guard has been doing night exercises. Sonic booms over the Northeast Kingdom around that time or a little later, maybe related ...

I often see meteorites / debris burning up in the atmosphere on my drives back to MA. Pretty neat.

I think Mirabela is probably right, lots of military aircraft tearing all over the place last evening up in the north country.

Missile counter-measure flares look like a string of lights dropped from an aircraft flight path at a rate of one to several per second. (They are dropped from an aircraft to distract a missile's IR target tracker.) They are pretty distinctive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flare_(countermeasure)

Iridium (satellite) flares appear as a single stationary flash lasting up to 20 or so seconds. They are caused by sunlight reflecting off a flat mirror-like antenna and can be bright enough to be visible during the daytime. They are predictable--you can look up forecasts for your area. Other satellites can also flare.

Other possibilities are a meteor, a satellite, or a high altitude aircraft all of which move along straight paths.

Last year we saw a candle lantern in flight around that area. A short while later, a Statey at a high rate of speed heading in that direction while we were traveling in the other.
