Does anyone know if the AMC is working on new Maine guide? If so, would it be released by next summer?

I'd recommend buying the MATC's map set and guidebook for the AT. Its a better resource for the mountains of Maine, IMHO, and it was recently updated.

Does it include elevation gain data?

Thanks!

Only if you want to hike mountains along the AT, preferably via the AT :)

Most peaks in ME are far away from the AT and not in the MATC guide, all too many aren't in the MMG either

Compare the thickness of the WMG with that of the MMG, and the area of Northern NH to that of all of ME, and you get some idea just how skimpy the MMG is

TEO, The Maine Mountain Guide is not in revision that I know of. Go ahead and spring for the current version if your plans are to hike something other than the AT. True, some trails/mountains are off the beaten path and have not made it into the MMG and then there are places where the trail maintainers and/or owners specify that they do not want their trails in the MMG -

The maine mountain guide typically doesnt get revised often and most of the trail descriptions remain the same (must be us hikers dont send in critiques of the descriptions often enough). I would recomend purchasing a copy of the Maine Delorme Road Atlas which show most of the trails and does tend to be updated frequently. Usually the combination of the atlas and the latest Main mountain guide is adequate.

AMC's Maine Mountain Guide was just revised a year or two ago (or so it seems.) Highly unlikely that it will be revised again any time soon.

Referring to the MATC Guide and maps, they do have elevations and show a profile of elevation changes throughout the AT.
