Trail Conditions: The trail was a sidewalk up to timberline making a fast pace possible. Zero running water and zero obstacles. The summit approach, however, was a challenge. The ridge was extremely windy causing the trail to drift over in places. Some minor trail breaking just before and after timberline. I tried to follow a line on the ridge opposite the wind.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes all the way. Crampons not needed. Summit gear essential; parka, heavy gloves with glove liners, balaclava, and goggles.
Comments: Layer up before starting up the open ridge. I didn't and struggled putting on my face mask in strong and bitter cold winds. My fingertips are still slightly numb. Keep your water bottle up side down! Watch out for skiers! Many excellent people on the trail. In 8am - Out 4pm.
