Marcy and Haystack from the Loj 07/12/08

From the loj up the Van Hoevenberg and ski trail to Marcy first. Trail was in great shape, minimal muck too easily avoided. Personal thought at the peak was that this route to Marcy might be the easiest route to any of the 46. From the peak, dropped back down to the Phelps trail towards Bushnell Falls and into the col. Again, the trail was in great condition, same with the route up to Haystack from there.

Only problem encountered during the day was biting insects. Seemed like I was walking in a constant swarm fom 9 hours. Bug dope required ...
