Super Day. Trails broken full trip- up past Indian Falls and back down through Feldspar. Hard pack snow easy walk up to Phelps Summit trail. Beyond steeper spots, microspikes or snowshoes very helpful. Open summits of Marcy & Skylight an icy-snow, hard crust; making spikes or snoshoes pretty required. Altho a pre-requisite, except a few spots, you could get by nearly the whole way without snowshoes- just microspikes. Trail up Skylight & Gray not as well packed and you can see postholes off the edges. Below the tree line on South Marcy and on Trail down to Feldspar Lean too, trail is pretty well broken but snowshoes recommended. Because the trail is not quite so hard packed and a few spots people had postholed.
Watch for a few iced & bent over pines that are just low enough to bang into your head if you're looking down at trail at the wrong second. (Skylight & Gray).
Saw one group on Marcy, & passed one pair on thier way, no one on Gray or Skylight. 25-30F & sunny & clear, strong wind on North climb up Marcy. You won't linger on summit. 7-8F low the night prior. Marcy Dam Lean Tos full. Pack your tent
