(I copied the text from the NEMBA website, but the survey covers all outdoor activities)

DCR's parent, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, has published a survey that will help them set funding priorities for public recreation and is a requirement to remain eligible for federal funding, see below for more details and the link to the survey.

Note: read the instructions on each question carefully! The most important question to answer's instructions refer to *how much* of your needs are being met per type of recreation - not how much resources should be committed to that type of recreation (i.e., an answer of 100% means all your needs are met and no resources need be committed - 0% means none of your resources are being met and lots of resources should be committed)

Thanks for taking 5 minutes and doing the survey!

Received From DCR:

"Please participate in our SCORP survey.

Under the Land & Water Conservation Fund Act (LWCF), states work closely with the National Park Service to analyze recreation needs, set priorities for funding, and supervise and coordinate the selection of projects. In order to remain eligible for funding from the Land & Water Conservation Fund grant program, the National Parks Service requires every state to complete a Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) every five years – the SCORP is the state's Open Space and Recreation Plan, and provides regional data for the entire state. To help inform the SCORP process and guide future use of LWCF funds, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is conducting a survey to gather data about Commonwealth residents’ preferences for recreational activities. Interesting survey. All sorts of "micro-niche" activities are covered. But climbing, both rock and ice, is excluded. Again. As usual. Oh well.

Of course, I thought that the top priority recreation activity for MA residents was to go to NH and get lost, triggering a massive search, and a concomitant rage attack by UL commenters. :D :D :D

You missed a step: stopping at a "rest area" to stock up on cheap booze (THEN getting lost, triggering massive searches, etc., etc...)
