In case you haven't heard, the weekend of August 12th and 13th is declared a tax free shopping weekend in Mass. So if you live in MA or one of the border states like VT, ME, or CT you don't have to trek to the Live Free or Die state to make a sizeable purchase.
The rules for this are all items costing less than $2,500.00 will be tax free. There are a few things not tax exempt, such as cars, etc. So if you can hold on to buy that backpack, boots, or other big ticket item from REI, EMS, Hiltons Tent City and the rest till the weekend you can save 5% on the purchase without having to go to NH. Enjoy!!
(disclaimer- I work at a mall in Boston, so I'll be busy Saturday!)
