Trails: Road walk - Route 113 (0.5 mi between trailheads to make loop), Mt Meader Trail, Meader Ridge Trail & Baldface Circle Trail. About 9.2 mile loop on Sunday Aug 31.
Trail Conditions: Mainly great! Some mud on Meader Ridge Trail but mostly dried up as evidenced from the huge prints and postholes from earlier hikes. Meader Ridge has a few PUDs but it's a ridge trail after all. Couple of blowdowns on Baldface Circle (northern segment) and it's really grown in with hobblebush 1.5-0.5 mile from jct with Meader Ridge trail. Eagle Craig has spectacular 360 views and Meader is great also. Unfortunately the rain in July & August brought out the mosquitoes. 2 blowdowns on Baldface Circle (northern section).
Special Equipment Required: Poles help negotiate thru the muddy sections to prevent widening the treadway. Lots of water. Sunscreen and windbreaker for the above treeline portions
Comments: We started at 6 am and saw no one until well after noon. Great views and almost as challenging a day hike as most of the 4Ks without the crowds. We skipped Emerald Pool because we would have had lots of company and we've had it to ourselves in the past but it was a great day to be in the woods.
