Access trailhead via Wheelerville Road, off its north end of Rt. 4. A bridge is out about a mile south of Bucklin Corner, so if you come in from Rutland, you will have to walk an extra mile each way.
Access logging road by walking past gate at the south end of the Bucklin Trailhead
Followed the logging road (Catamount Ski Trail on its lower end) across 4 brook crossings, to a second rock cairn at about 3400' on the NE slope of Mendon.
From here (hard climbing done via the logging road) took a compass bearing towards the summit, moving through open woods to the summit proper.
