Date of Hike: Sunday March 9, 2008
Trail Conditions: substantial amounts of ice and hard packed snow. South facing slopes and ridges mostly clear, northern facing slopes mostly ice on trails with snow on edges.
Special Equipment Required: traction very useful, not enough snow for snowshoes. There's a lot of ice, there's also a lot of dirt. I carried Stablicers but didn't use them. I saw a lot of people wearing them though.
Comments: Hiked from the notch/rt 116 to Harris Mountain Road and back. Great hike with good views and strong winds from the west. Sun kept things pleasant provided it was sheltered from the wind.
