Date of Hike: 10/2/08
Trail Conditions: Wet trail with some slippery rocks, but Cater Dome Trail is really gentle and well graded with switchbacks and lots of stream side trail. 3 Wooded summits were ok. Got sleeted on at Noon on Middle Carter! I'm not picky, so that counts as the first snow for the season for me! Hight was freezing with wind and precip whippin cold on me and pooch, who was my hiking partner for the day. Maps and signs disagreed but about 15+ miles total.
Special Equipment Required: Warm and Windproof clothing, trekking poles, fleece human vest with duct tape to keep dog warm.
Comments: Sun came out during light rain on way back down 19MBT, bright leaves on the ground with drops of rain made it all sparkily and was a great finish to the hike.
