Date of hike: 12/28
Trails: Red Spot, White Dot, portions of Pumpelly & Cascade Link
Trail Conditions: An inch of new snow bonded nicely to what was already there, creating superb footing all over the mountain.
Special Equipment: None. It was possible to (and people did) bare boot it to the summit, although some sort of traction device was useful for the last push up from Paradise. I used Stabilicers and poles, but I tend to be conservative when doing solo winter hikes.
Comments: I spoke to a father and son and who did the Pumpelly from the summit and then the entire Cascade Link back to HQ. They said conditions were great the whole way. Things have been very changeable lately, however, so if you are coming this weekend or New Year's day, be prepared for anything. Today was as good as it gets, so stop reading and start packing!!!
