And of course, it would be nice if the AT continued to go down Pleasant Street through town. Everyone stops in Monson to resupply before heading into the 100 miles. But I'm not going to win that one.

You might. Not too long ago the New Jersey Turnpike was a stretch of the AT :( . Somebody got that hot mess changed.

Its your hike, do it any way you want. Haven't hiked that area in years but I think you could probably still follow the old route. There was also a logging road further up Elliotsville Road that went into North Pond and I would expect something along Wilson Stream as way to or from the AT to Elliotsville Road. Yeah. Monson is cool and though I've never been to Shaw's, other than to see where it was, I can't get through Monson without stopping when the Spring Creek BBQ Emporium is fired up.
