I had yet to see a moose down here in my hometown in southeast NH, till today anyways! I always bring the camera into the woods near my house just in case I see something. I've seen tracks and dung in the past, but this is the first time I've actually seen anything.

Some observations:

At first he didn't seem to notice me (def a bull moose), and went on his merry way, feeding out of the pond. Then after awhile, it noticed I was there, about 30 yards away, and paused for awhile. His ears started moving around. I was standing at this point, and then decided to kneel down. He immediately relaxed and continued to eat. I wonder if I seemed threatening standing up? Forestgnome, any thoughts? :)

There is nothing more thrilling than seeing a moose up close by yourself. I think I'm hooked, :D

Here are some pics, sorry a bit blurry. I need a real zoom camera, to get by all the leaves.

looks pretty healthy

after some more food and a little thought...off he went. i tried to inch closer but i don't think he was into that so much, because i heard a few branches break as he went off into the woods

Sure did . . . very enjoyable . . . thanx for sharing!!

Yesterday must have been the day for "moose-sightings"!
I (and probably a couple dozen other folks :D) pulled over to the shoulder of the road yesterday evening to get a snapshot of a moose along Rt. 302 near Zealand Road.

Ooh nice shot! I may have to head down to these ponds again to see if there are more moose down there. I pretty much know that area like the back of my hand. Its nice to have a small part of the woods that feels like your own backyard, but at the same time, has a little bit of a wild feel to it. The moose helps with that too. :)
