I was watching Unsolved Mysteries the other day, and a story came on about a ghost that supposedly haunts Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks. Where is Big Moose Lake and has anyone ever heard of the ghost?

The story is that the ghost is that of a young woman who used to work in a sewing factory in Cortland, NY. She fell in love with the owner's nephew, a man by the name of Gillette, and became pregnant. He didn't want anything to do with her after that, and took her on a trip to the Adirondacks. She thought it was a wedding trip, but, according to the story, he took her out on the lake in a boat and drowned her. Supposedly her ghost still haunts that area.

Here is a link for the story.

I must correct the original post and point out that it was Big Moose Lake and not just Moose Lake, there's a difference...

Big Moose Lake.
Big Moose Road is located in Eagle Bay. Between Old Forge and Inlet on State Route 28, in New York. The Lake is about 4 or 5 miles up the road. There is a public launch and nice areas to explore with the canoe.

Thanks Bridge! I would like to check it out sometime I guess I am really into the paranormal. FunkyFreddy do I hear a road trip?

Maybe we could get a canoe, kayak, or hiking trip together up there sometime on the full or new moon. It would be nice to camp close to the lake shore with a group of VFTTers around the campfire, tell some ghost stories after hiking or paddling.

Are you planning on going to the Catskill gathering this fall, Adam? There's a night hike of Overlook that you might find interesting. I've also been hearing more and more stories about the woods behind a friends house in the Catskills. There's one place back there near a old cemetary where your compass goes crazy and the coyotes are very active at night.

Fred,

I have the canoe covered! I have an Adirondack Wanonah and it only weighs 54 pounds and treds hardly any water. When is the Catskill gathering? I will have to see what my work schedule is but that look out sounds cool.
