trails: ravine lodge road, gorge brook trail
conditions: good parking at the end of the road. not plowed since most recent bit of snow, but a non issue. 118 a little sloppy though plows were out working on it. ravine road had some new powder over a firm, but choppy base. gorge brook trail more of the same though a number of hikers heading up in snowshoes we passed on the way down were helping to smooth it out a bit. some spots were pretty chewed up by bareboots. rocky above treeline with a little ice and drifted powder to the summit.
equipment: we wore snowshoes the whole hike.
comments: interesting conditions up on moosilauke with gusty winds and blowing precipitation that quickly coated us in ice. limited visibility, but not enough to hinder navigation. the summit provided good protection from the strongest winds until the very top. some sun and patches of blue sky on the walk out from the lodge. thanks to cynthia for a good hike.
