Date of Hike: Saturday 12/26
Trail Conditions: most prior parties had barebooted, but we found snowshoes helpful. We used microspikes on ravine lodge road (which is gated and unplowed) where there is a well-packed footway. Skiers: snow coverage on the carriage road and snapper is very good, only a few bare spots. There was evidence of prior skiers, and a couple snowboarders flew by us as we descended. We encountered only a few easy blowdowns. No problems with stream crossings.
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes, poles, shell layers and face protection above treeline.
Comments: windier than we expected on top, but we had the gear we needed. No views, but still an outstanding day, with the usual apres-hike refreshments back at the cars. Thanks Tim for your company. And, thanks to all who build cairns above treeline!
