trails: gorge brook trail
conditions: ravine lodge road open and in good condition. lower trail was mostly wet with isolated patches of ice. the re route was a little muddy then once above the 3300 sign more patches of wet snow appeared. much of this was lower portion of the trail was covered with a light coat of wet snow that fell while i was out there. a coating of wet snow, slush and soft ice covered the trail higher up and above treeline with a glaze forming on some of the rocks. a couple minor seasonal brooks weren't a problem to cross, but did have some ice around them that became covered by the new snow.
equipment: i used microspikes from just before treeline to the summit and back down a ways until they started to ball up too much.
comments: some interesting conditions up on moosilauke today. gorge brook trail was actually quite fast on the way up as sleet and then snow fell steadily. the summit did a good job of providing protection from the wind most of the way up, but once i crested the summit i was greeted by strong winds and stinging precipitation. could feel the cool down coming in as i descended.
