Trail Conditions: Mostly leave covered all the way up Glencliff until the junction with Carriage Trail. Ice on the upper sections of Glencliff, especially so near the stream crossings above 3K feet. Scattered snow along the ridge walk from junction with Carriage Trail to summit…. few inches at most....never anything that required traction or even special attention . The new cairns (a la Cath & Co.) erected along the ridge walk to the summit are a welcome addition….will greatly enhance safety and navigation in spotty weather.
Special Equipment Required: All 3 of us strapped on stabilicers for the icy sections on Glencliff. Shells made the summit very comfortable while we ate lunch. South Peak experience is just so cool....exceptional views.
Comments: – Beautiful day, endless views from the Prezis in the east to the summits of VT in the west, extra special trip today with Schorman Sr & Mrs Schorman Sr.
