Amazing history lesson. For the bicentennial of the Arnold Expedition some reenactors travelled his route but in summer I think. I rowed their reproduction bateau once in NH and it was heavy even when empty.

Private salmon fishing, we saw a car with Delaware plates heading in. They used to allow AMC hikes to Whitecap in the days before ZEC and Wiggle Brook opened up.

I think it means you have to report there that you've already crossed, just like the sign at Pittsburg used to tell you to report at Beechers Falls
