Dates of Hike: April 8, 9th & 11th

Trail Conditions: Gay City Red/Orange loop virtually snow free, on Wednesday. What tiny bit was there was avoidable on wide trails, avoided second part of red loop as it's traditionally very wet. Rocky Neck up close to Route 156 drying slowly, Ruby Cohen snow free but very soft. Oswegatchie is in best shape and has more ledge/rock and elevation that the others.

Special Equipment Required: As these areas are right along the coastline, a windbreaker on cool spring days is a good idea.

Comments: - Finally, snow free hiking. Oswegatchie Hills has lots of PUD's but also a some early season views of coves, ponds, the Niantic River and lots of Mt Laurel which will be in bloom a several weeks. You can do an almost four mile loop. A great hike on it's own, it is also a good training hike for higher peaks with better views up north. Gay City's more durable trails in decent shape, the wet spots are still wet and pretty soft. Hopefully some warm sunny days will help.
