trails: stony brook trail, carter-moriah trail
conditions: parked at the culdesac off of mt. carter road and followed the old route of the trail in. snow free trail to start. snow/ice coverage becomes consistent between the two upper water crossings. snow over ice continued most of the way to the summit with stretches of clear ledge on carter-moriah trail. some new powder up high as well. a few sections of straight ice in between the open ledges, but for the most part decent traction could be found. the lower of the two crossings was a rock hop and the upper had a solid ice bridge.
equipment: we barebooted to start then used microspikes once snow coverage was consistent. they were ideal as most of the ice is covered with a layer of snow, but a couple sections of ice pushed them a bit.
comments: good day on moriah. a bit cold and windy with some views to the carters and evans notch area. thanks to mark and alison for a nice easter hike.
