trails: carter-moriah trail, carter dome trail, nineteen mile brook trail, wildcat ridge trail, polecat/catnap ski trails

conditions: parking was tight at the end of bangor road so we parked at the dirt lot a ways back and cut up to the trail from there. trails were dry much of the day until the afternoon rain when things became quite wet with slippery ledge along with mud and standing water. the spruce/fir growth on wildcat ridge trail just keeps getting tighter from b peak over c peak. some nice new bog bridging going in below moriah on the carter-moriah trail.

equipment: we were happy to have some water purification equipment to top off before the climb up north carter.

comments: great day. two very different extremes as it was hot early and we struggled not to overheat and by the time we were in the wildcats we were just trying to stay warm enough in the cold winds and rain. a fair amount of thunder rumbling around in the afternoon and one startling lightning strike and thunderclap a bit to close for comfort coming off of carter dome. nice running into some familiar faces along the way. thanks to cynthia for another nice long hike.
