Conditions: bare ground mostly until bigger and bigger patches of snow/ice; we switched to snowshoes at 2500'. A little drizzle in the am, and rain later in the afternoon. Ledges bare (wore the snowshoes over them), then icy around noon - a fine layer of ice on us/our packs/poles.
Special Equipment: Snowshoes on/off the rail
Comments: A nice day! Limited views of the carters & Madison from the lower ledges before noon; pretty socked in at the summit. With the wind and multi-level blowing clouds, we could definitely appreciate the awesome and potential power of nature around us!!! Thanks to hikered, Jim, and Eric for the day!!!
