Does anyone have recommendations for motel-type accommodation near the Upper Works? I'm hiking into Redfield and Cliff later this week starting from the Upper Works. My current plan is to B&B it in Keene Valley at Mountain Meadows. It's a great spot. It does however mean a fair drive in the early morning. Has anyone had experience with Aunt Polly's in Newcomb? Other local spots?

All insights appreciated.

Cheers!

B&B in Newcomb

I've stayed at aunt polly's a couple of times- it's certainly fine. There's another b&b in newcomb as well- cedar inn. I think he may be closing early this year, as the owner is an engineer, and going down to New Orleans- but it's worht calling- my husband preferred that one over aunt polly's, but minimal differences.
Good luck with Redfield and Cliff- the views from Redfield are great.

I pulled into Aunt Polly's last winter after a harrowing 3 hour drive in a snowstorm. I asked my hostess if she would sell me a beer and she opened the fridge, pulled out 2 Heinies and said, "here, I'll give you these"

I have stayed at Aunt Polly's and it was a good experience.
If I don't stay there (for upper works) I stay at Schroon Lake - at Mappleleaf, Drake, or Davis depending on time of year and vacancy.

You can try this website for some options and phone nuimbers in and around Newcomb.

Or this website for options near Long Lake

Another vote for Aunt Polly's.

I've stayed their twice. If you come in late they don't care you can settle up with them in the morning. If you forget your headlamp or anything else they probably will offer you something of theirs.
