Just hiked Mount Cardigan yesterday, 11/2/2008. We went up the Clark/Holt Trail cutoff route, and found the conditions to be excellent. We came down on Mowgli's Trail to Firescrew, and down the Manning Trail. We found the Manning Trail to have some fairly treacherous ice, and had to work around it in several places. Ascending the Manning would have been much easier than descending it due to the icy conditions. Be careful, and avoid the ice when possible. After you get off Firescrew, and down into the hardwood forest, the conditions were excellent.
