Trail Conditions: spring conditions.,..hard packed and icy in spots...soft loose granular in others..rocks starting to poke through the snow on this south facing trail as they absorb heat..Upper ledges had an icy layer that was easily broken through..some powder in the upper woods..brook crossings open but manageable with out the high bankings of some places..trail from the view ledges to actual summit was not broken out and had more crawling involved then I cared for today so after a couple of hundred yards I backtracked the way I came

Equipment: I used snowshoes the whole way and never though about taking them off..some one had barebooted in last couple of days with some postholing evident..

Comments..Just a glorious day..my intent was to go higher but got a late start due to the Red Sox...Should have cleaned out winter gear from pack for this hike in the strong warm sun...The access to trailhead via Diamond Ledge road an adventure of high bankings, very narrow and winding..icy and muddy..Mead Base plowed out but getting there an adventure
