Date of Hike: Friday, Jan 15th
Trails, A-Z, Willey Range, Ethan Pond, Kendron Flume
Trail Conditions: A-Z, Mount Tom Spur packed out very well. Last half mile to Mount Field on the Willey Range Trail had drifted snow leaving no trace of the trail but it isn't hard to find your way. Willey Range to Willey was broken out, however I someohow either went onto a bushwhack or the last person up there had no idea where they were going because they went coo-coo bananas off the regular trail around the summit. Finally I went my own way and backdoored the summit somehow. Hopefully the people behind me didn't follw where i went!
Willey Range past Mount Willey summit was filled with snow and not broken out at all, knee to waist deep until Ethan Pond Trail. a few blowdowns along the way. the trail was pretty easy to follow except for around one massive blowdown.
Ethan Pond was well broken out, Kendron Flume was easy to follow but hasn't been broken out probably for a week. Lots of blowdowns on upper part of this trail
Special Equipment: Snowshoes
Comments: Nice day to be below treeline, upper elevations clouded in. I want to thank the guy who was driving up 302 from hiking Carrigain for picking me up and takin me back to the Highland Center, that was very nice of him!
