We saw a sign for this new trail the day before, so we decided to check it out. The Mountain Division Trail in its current state runs for 4.2 paved miles starting in Fryeburg just past the NH-ME line about 15 minutes from North Conway. We walked the entire 4.2 miles back and forth.
This trail is excellent for inline skating, bikers, XC skiers, snowshoers and walkers. This is the only paved rail trail on this side of the Whites, and the long term plan of its founders is to see the trail go all the way to Portland!
The parking area/start of this trail is the maine welcome center on US302. Its not a completely flat trail as it has some minor ups and downs. The pavement quality is outstanding as the trail is only a year or so old.
