Trails: up Airline to Adams, Down Airline, Gulf to Madison Hut, Down Valley, Lower Bruin, Brookside, Valley, Fallsway to Tama Falls, Back on Valley .
Trail Conditions: On the way up; mostly dry, some mud between 3k and 4k on Valley but not deep, one big blowdown on Valley (3660') but easy walk around.
On the way down I can't say if trails are dry or not because it started raining just as I submitted Adams - No views at all. But again, no significant mud. Hut wasn’t officially open yet but there was a caretaker there starting to set things up. No significant mud or blowdowns on trails down. A lot of large tree roots and short up and down scrambles on Brookside but worth the extra time and effort for the views and sounds of the cascades down the adjacent Snyder brook. A couple of small step-over blow-downs on the way down. Oh, the sign post for Valley Way near the hut was knocked down ( I had to ask for help finding it), but I suspect that will be fixed while they are setting up the Hut.
Small flying bugs and skeeter's out in abundance but 30% DEET kept them a few feet away the whole hike. Didn't see the infamous black flies, except a few above the tree line and they were all hugging the ground to stay out of the wind.
Special equipment: No winter traction needed (no ice/snow on trails). I could have used better traction or more caution on the wet rocks (fell many times).
My first peak without perfectly clear skies , but still worth it for the hike.
