Trails: Airline, Short Line, Kings Ravine, Chemin Des Dames, Airline Cutoff, Star Lake Trail, Lowes Path, Gulfside, Osgood Trail, Watson Path, Valley Way
Parking/Access Road Notes: Appalachia was full at 8:40, I snagged one of the first on the side of rt 2 spots, cars lined up later
Bugs: still bring the spray, black flies gave me something to remember the trip by in alpine areas, there was very little wind
Comments: What a rough rugged beautiful day. The Northern Presi rock hopping takes way longer than normal hiking pace, even (especially) going down.
Chemin Des Dames--I went up it..quite steep, lots of big talus to climb, then a small vertical cave to push pack through first...if you needed to an experience hiker could descend this, but not the best direction to use this trail
Star Lake Trail up Adams--went up it, lots of talus, steep, a few scrambles with nice cracks...not bad, could go in either direction fine
Watson Path-- the surprise of the day, what a rough trail to descend, the upper 2/3 is constant jagged talus hopping, the bottom 1/3 in the trees was reminscent of Zeacliff, the trail has 2200 elevation gain in 1.5 miles, this would be a slog going up
Awesome way to spend about 7 miles constantly above treeline
11 miles, 5300 gain
