Date of Hike: 10/4
Trail Conditions: Lowe's and King's Ravine trail have autumn weather. Light snow on Spur trail and Crag Camp. Above Crag one to two inches of snow - luckily no ice though slippery. Variable low winds until the very summit of Adams where the wind howled 30-40 knots. Temps not too bad at 30 - mild wintery conditions. Clouds and fog with decent viz of 2-300 feet though the small snow-covered cairns on Adams cone were not easy to follow - they blend too much into the rocks. On descent I took Lowe's path to Gray Knob hut which was a mistake since this trail was much more exposed to the NW wind - brrr - cold!
Special Equipment Required: Hat, gloves, shell, pole. No stabilicer needed though that might change when ice develops.
Comment: Silly me, I should've brought more winter clothing. All in all, it was a great hike - a "moderate adventure" - good prelude to winter hiking. Yay! The rime was very beautiful.
