Hi folks, I'm thinking of hiking Mt Cabot (from the Bunnell Notch trail approach) over the long weekend. I see a trip report from 10/30 but nothing since then. Anyone from the area who could comment on snow cover? I guess I should take my snowshoes, but maybe since the elevation is low that would be overkill (if less accumulation).

Thoughts?

As ever, thanks!

It's true. Here in Gorham around 1300' I had a foot by 2pm yesterday. It turned over to rain around 2:30 pm and rained really hard into late evening with a max temp of ~35. This fully waterlogged the snow which is freezing up at a depth of ~3.5".

Carla- I posted the above in another thread. Additionally Jefferson through the Randolph area accumulated ~6" of snow on Saturday the 22nd- my area only got an inch. My guess would be that the rain that followed the Saturday & yesterday snows would settle and harden it. Microspikes or other would be my guess.

Wouldn't hurt to throw the shoes in your car and test the snow when you get there.
