Trail Conditions: Trail is flat, smooth, and easy for first 2 miles, then rather steep for the rest. Quite a bit of mud but most was passable without getting boots dirty. Stream crossings are low enough to rock hop with no problems. After the first two miles, you encounter typical NE rocky terrain that can be hard on the knees, but there is good footing everywhere. Views from Signal Ridge are amazing, as are those from the tower.

Comments: Sawyer River Road is in good shape. Note that currently, this is a *No Fee* parking area, contrary to what some guides say. The fee envelope receptacle is covered up and has a sign that says "No Fee Required" or something to that effect.

Lots of people and dogs out, who can blame them, given the cool, dry, sunny weather? What a day to be out!
