The trail is in good condition from the trailhead to the top and it is very easily followed. There is one stepover blowdown in the first 1 1/2 mile and one crawl under blowdown around 3000'. The water in the streams was fairly low today and the crossings were fairly easy.
The first traces of snow showed about 3000'. By 3500' the snow was sticking to the trail. By 4000' the trail was pretty well covered with snow. No special traction was needed. The maximum depth was maybe 2". After the sun came up it warmed up and the snow was melting. However, between 11:30 and 12:00 as I headed back down through that section it was still there.
The views from the top were absolutely spectacular today. On a day like today, this peak which from the fire tower offers 360* views, has some of the best views that can be had in the Whites. It's an absolute gem. If you really want a treat save this peak for a day like today.
