Mt. Crawford, February 19, 2012. Davis Path trail broken out to the spur and as far as we could see beyond the trail junction. Packed snow with no signs of ice except one or two small spots during the first mile. Summit was packed snow (and windy).

Special equipment. Traction and poles. We were wearing microspikes and had no problem. Some were wearing Hillsounds which I imagine helped their descent on the steeper sections. Poles helpful but at times were an annoyance due to crusty snow either side of break out path, in some areas 10 inches higher than the narrow path (hard to plant sticks in the crust).

Trail was pretty much as LivesToHike described it on 2/13. It was a busy day on Mt. Crawford; many taking advantage of the clear skies and moderate temps. Washington was in the clouds but the other peaks were clear. Great views!
