Maineri’s ( Fran and Cymbidium), Robichaud’s, Gorbo, Sugaree, Dick W and S. Zimmer left Jefferson Notch Parking Area and went North down the road about 100 yards to the first turn. Heading westerly, staying at around 2975- 3000 feet and following that contour, we passed the two drainages shown on maps and then started angling up toward Dartmouth. The woods at this elevation were very open and Fran found a great line up to the summit, pretty easy whacking. On the return, we followed the same line and decided since we had the time, to take in Millen Hill as well. From that 3000 foot level, we angled toward Millen’s summit from the col area between Dartmouth and Millen. Again Fran was leading and found another easy line up, bypassing most of the ridge blow downs. On the return, we followed the same line down to open woods around 3100 feet and headed easterly but ran into some more thick woods and blow downs, so we started dropping elevation and came out right at the parking area. With hindsight, we should have dropped all the way to our original traverse to return, as the woods were so much more open and easily walkable. A great day, beautiful weather, good company and another NHHH and a 3K.
Thanks to Steve Zimmer for organizing this bushwhack. Lots of fun for all!
