trails: bushwack, roadwalk
conditions: parked on old cherry mountain rd. just beyond campsite 7 and began the bushwack by crossing up through the campsite. we found mostly dry and open woods up to the west peak then skirted some thicker woods on the way to east peak eventually finding and following the route of the old trail to the highpoint which is just off of the old trail to the north. on the return we skirted around the west peak though it would likely have been easier to just cross back over it. popped back out of the woods at campsite 6 and did the short walk back up the road to the car. black flies are out and were tolerable while moving, but a bit much when standing around.
equipment: navigational tools of your choice.
comments: a real nice bushwack. some good views to be had from the west peak though the cloud cover was still pretty low when we were there in the morning. lots of nice woods and moose sign galore. thanks to jeremy and bill for a great off trail hike.
