Trails: Slippery Brook & Mt Eastman.

Date of Hike: Thursday 8/21/08

Trail Conditions: Great! Some mud on Slippery Brook Trail. Couple of blowdowns on Eastman. Not a highly used trail from the Jackson/Bartlett side. Pay attention to arrows directing left and then right turns off the logging road part of trail. The grassy logging road in the WMG description is apt. Some bugs.

Special Equipment Required: Poles help negotiate thru the muddy sections to prevent widening the treadway.

Comments: Staying in Jackson, we called this our gas saver hike, choosing the approach from Slippery Brook/Town Hall Road to save the drive to Rt 113 & Evans Notch. We were a little wary about the trail being difficult to follow since this way is clearly not the most used - we needn't have worried. This hike was a breeze with the 1600' elevation gain over 4.9 miles. It did not feel like a ten mile hike. Great views from Eastman's summit. We saw no one!
