Conditions: As of today, the trail is broken out all the way to Mt. Field.
Special Equipment: Although you could bare-boot it up to the A-Z Trail intersection, you’re going to need some sort of foot traction for the rest of the trek on the Avalon Trail up to Mt. Field.
Comments: With the limited time available to us today, Zman & I completed the trek up to Mt. Field. Along the way we noticed there didn’t appear to be any recent traffic going toward Mt. Tom (neither at A-Z Trail intersection, nor at Willey-Range Trail intersection). But, there was evidence of recent traffic headed from Mt. Field toward Mt. Willey on the Willey Range Trail.
Great sledding on the way back down, especially from Mt. Avalon down to A-Z Trail intersection!!
