Trail Conditions: The trail from the junction with Liberty springs to the base of the slide varied from dry to pretty damp with pretty much the entire trail covered with fallen leaves. The slide itself was very wet with a colorful covering of those same wet leaves. Thankfully there are many sections to the left and right of the slabs that are broken through enough and obvious enough to allow you to bypass the really dicey parts.

Special Equipment Required: Poles are helpful for the march in and out but no need for any traction devices yet.

Comments: Beautifully muted fall day. The colors were near peak. All the river crossings were easily negotiated with the final crossing the only one that required a little bit of thought. Crossed over to Liberty for the decent. The crusting of snow that fell on Friday was long gone with only the tops of the 5k footers in the distance still frosty.
